Magazzino Italian Art is a museum dedicated to advancing scholarship and public appreciation of postwar and contemporary Italian art in the United States. Magazzino servces as an advocate for Italian artists as it celebrates the range of their creative practices from Arte Povera to the present. The Robert Olnick Pavilion, named after Co-founder Nancy Olnick’s late father, is the second building on Magazzino’s campus in Cold Spring, New York, opened to the public on September 14, 2023. Through a partnership with design distributor&nbsp;AMEICO, I made a proposal to re-launch the retail store, originally designed by Charles Sparks + Company,&nbsp;with a pop-up shop for the 2021 Holiday season. I made a selection of products from the AMEICO collection, coordinated installation with the Nasher team, trained staff, followed sales and held monthly check-ins with the retail team. After working out of a small office in New Milford for 14 years, owner Peter Kahane started looking for new space, not only to provide his employees with a better working environment, but also to show his wide collection of home, office, &amp; tabletop products, lighting, and furnishings. In the same block was an abandoned building which was built in 1918 to house the SNET Telephone Exchange for the area, but had laid dormant since the early 1990s. My&nbsp; work has been in product procurement and development, managing business operations, developing new sales channels, providing creative direction, managing events and exhibitions, and leading employees. I grew up in Prince Edward Island, Canada. In 1995, I emigrated to the US and spent four years living between New Orleans and PEI while pursuing a career in music and making art. In 1999 I moved to New York, soon after landing a job at Moss, a big, brightly-lit and engaging design shop and gallery in Soho. Through working closely with Murray Moss as Product Manager for ten years, I found myself at the epicenter of the world of contemporary design. I worked with the great Moss team on many installations and exhibitions that the gallery presented in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, and Milan. Moss was a design mecca for many artists, designers, curators, and educators, and much of the work it fostered found its way into museum collections worldwide. When the Moss store closed in 2012, I became Director of Retail and Product Development for the Museum of Sex, stewarding a change in the curation and positioning of the MoSEX Shop. I set up a program of artist and manufacturer product launches and collaborations, in-store pop-up shops, and gallery-like presentations. Through the next two years I revamped the store website, added new sales channels and clientele, and directed a renewal of the branding language for the Museum shop. From 2014-2023 I worked with Ameico, an importer and distributor of 20th and 21st century design products. At Ameico I lead the sales team, I was the US Brand Manager for Izipizi, a Paris-based producer of reading glasses, and I was the director of the Ameico retail store and gallery located in the historic 1917 SNET Telephone Exchange Building of New Milford, CT.
